By the end of this unit, children will confidently count forward and backward from any number up to 5 and use one-to-one correspondence to accurately count and determine the quantity of a set of objects.

Description

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

count forward and backward from any number up to 5;
count a set of objects and determine the quantity using one-to-one correspondence.

National Curriculum Objectives

Year 1 Number: Number and Place Value

Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, beginning with zero or 1, or from any given number.
Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least.
