Introduction to Fossils

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

• define what fossils are and how they are formed;
• identify and name the different types of fossils;
• sequence the steps in fossil formation; and
• understand fossilisation with particular focus on how body and trace fossils are formed in rocks.
