By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- identify and recognize numerical values and their corresponding quantities;
- compare numbers by identifying the number that is one less than a given number;
- order numbers in ascending and descending sequences, emphasizing the concept of “one less.”
Curriculum Alignment: Year 1 Number: Number and Place Value
- Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, beginning with zero or 1, or from any given number.
- Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least.
