Lesson Overview

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  • understand that an ecosystem is a community of animals, plants and microorganisms together;
  • identify and differentiate between a variety of common ecosystems such as rainforest, water, animals, fish, algae etc.

 

Curriculum Alignment: Year 4 Science: Living Things and their Habitats

  • explore and use classification keys to help group, identify and name a variety of living things in their local and wider environment
  • recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things
  • construct and interpret a variety of food chains, identifying producers, predators and prey
