In this topic Key stage 3 learners will understand the chemical reaction that occurs as a result of mixing acids and alkalis.

Description

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

understand the difference between acid and alkali;
learn weak and strong acids and alkali
identify alkali from household items; and
recognise hazard symbols and their meanings

KS3 Science: Chemical Reactions

learn about defining acids and alkalis in terms of neutralisation reactions;
understand reactions of acids with alkalis to produce a salt plus water.
