By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- understand the concepts of congruency and similarities between geometric shapes;
- identify and apply conditions for congruency and similarities;
- solve problems involving congruent and similar shapes, including proportions and ratios.
Curriculum Alignment: Key Stage 4: Geometry and measures
- identify and construct congruent triangles, and construct similar shapes by enlargement, with and without coordinate grids
- apply angle facts, triangle congruence, similarity and properties of quadrilaterals to derive results about angles and sides, including Pythagoras’ Theorem, and use known results to obtain simple proofs
