By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Understand the concept of perimeter as the total distance around a shape.
  2. Calculate the perimeter of shapes on a grid by counting the lengths of their sides.
  3. Apply the concept of finding perimeter on a grid to solve real-life and mathematical problems.

Year 4 Measurement:

  • Measure and calculate the perimeter of a rectilinear figure (including squares) in centimetres and metres.
