By the end of this unit, learners will be able to:

  1. investigate how different surfaces affect movement;
  2. conduct experiments to observe how objects move on various surfaces (smooth, rough, slippery, etc.);
  3. understand friction and its impact on movement.

Year 3 Science: Forces and magnets

  • observe how magnets attract or repel each other and attract some materials and not others
  • compare and group together a variety of everyday materials on the basis of whether they are attracted to a magnet, and identify some magnetic materials
