By the end of this unit, learners will be able to:
- Identify and describe the four main components of blood.
- Understand and explain how red blood cells transport oxygen to body tissues and return carbon dioxide to the lungs.
- Understand and describe how white blood cells contribute to the immune system by fighting infections.
- Describe the function of platelets in blood clotting and wound repair.
- Understand that plasma is the liquid component of blood that carries cells, nutrients, hormones, and waste products throughout the body.
