In this lesson, learners will be able to their knowledge of the 3 times-table to explore the 6 times-table. They will explore the fact that the 6 times-table is double the 3 times-table.

Description

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Multiply single-digit and double-digit numbers by 6 accurately and efficiently.
  2. Divide larger numbers by 6 and understand the concept of sharing equally.
  3. Apply multiplication and division skills to solve real-life problems involving quantities that are multiples of 6.
  4. Recognize patterns and relationships when multiplying and dividing by 6.

Number – multiplication and division

  • Recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 × 12.
  • Recognise and use factor pairs and commutativity in mental calculations.
  • Multiply two-digit and three-digit numbers by a one-digit number using formal written layout.
