negative and zero vectors
Description

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Understand that column vectors can represent the position of an object in three-dimensional space. Each component of the vector corresponds to the object’s coordinates along the x, y, and z axes.
  2. Understand the relationship between column vectors and transformations such as translations, rotations, and scalings in mathematics and computer graphics.

Key Stage 4: Geometry and Measures

  • describe translations as 2D vectors
  • apply addition and subtraction of vectors, multiplication of vectors by a scalar, and diagrammatic and column representations of vectors; {use vectors to construct geometric arguments and proofs}
