By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. understand how different foods and diets impact body functions and overall health;
  2. identify healthy and unhealthy foods and the importance of a balanced diet for growth, energy, and overall health.
  3. understand nutrients and their primary functions and characteristics;
  4. understand how poor dietary choices can lead to health issues (e.g., obesity, deficiencies);
  5. learn to read and understand nutritional labels, identifying key nutrients and their amounts in different food products.

Year 6 Science: Animals including humans:

  • recognise the impact of diet, exercise, drugs and lifestyle on the way their bodies function
