By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Understand that each digit in a number represents a specific quantity.
  2. Understand how numbers are composed of individual digits and how to break them down.
  3. Grasp the concept that the position of a digit in a number determines its value.
  4. Recognize and identify the numbers from 0 to 20.

Year 1 Number: Number and Place Value

  • Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, beginning with zero or 1, or from any given number.
  • Count, read and write numbers to 100 in numerals; count in multiples of 2s, 5s and 10s.
