Parts of a Plant

By the end of this unit, learners will:

1. identify and label the basic parts of a plant, including roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits;

2. understand the functions of each plant part. For example:

   • Roots: Absorb water and nutrients from the soil, anchor the plant in place.
   • Stems: Support the plant and transport water, nutrients, and sugars.
   • Leaves: Perform photosynthesis, where plants make their food using sunlight.
   • Flowers: Reproductive structures that produce seeds.
   • Fruits: Protect and disperse seeds.

• identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants, including deciduous and evergreen trees
