Scale Drawing

By the end of this unit, students will:

1. apply their understanding of ratio and multiplicative relationship through scale diagrams;
2. decide if diagrams are accurately scaled or if the proportions have been changed;
3. explain the relationship between the original image and its scale drawing.

Curriculum Alignment: Year 6 Ratio and proportion:

• Solve problems involving the relative sizes of 2 quantities where missing values can be found by using integer multiplication and division facts.
• Solve problems involving similar shapes where the scale factor is known or can be found.
