Lesson Overview

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  • learn about sexual reproduction for the first time;
  • build on their knowledge of the life cycles of different animals;
  • understand that fertilisation is the process by which a male sperm cell and female egg cell join to form a new life;
  • know that other animals, such as birds, fish and amphibians, lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young;
  • and identify the different stages of reproduction.
