Description

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  • understand what classification keys are and why they are used in biology;
  • explain how classification keys help in identifying and grouping living things;
  • follow a dichotomous key to identify a variety of living things;
  • demonstrate the ability to make accurate choices between two contrasting characteristics at each step of the key.

Year 4 Science: Living things and their habitats

  • explore and use classification keys to help group, identify and name a variety of living things in their local and wider environment.
