By the end of this unit, students will:

  1. define what a ratio is and understand that it represents a comparison between two or more quantities;
  2. express ratios in different forms using ratio language such as”for every …’; ‘to’ etc
  3. Make simple comparisons between two different quantities.

Curriculum Alignment: Year 6 Mathematics: Ratio and proportion

  • Solve problems involving the relative sizes of 2 quantities where missing values can be found by using integer multiplication and division facts.
  • Solve problems involving unequal sharing and grouping using knowledge of fractions and multiples.
