By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- identify the value of digits in two-digit and three-digit numbers;
- understand the concept of tens and ones places in two-digit numbers, and hundreds, tens, and ones places in three-digit numbers;
- represent numbers using base-10 blocks, place value charts, and expanded form;
- compare and order numbers based on their place values;
- apply place value concepts to solve addition and subtraction problems.
Curriculum Alignment: Year 3 Number: Number and Place Value.
- Recognise the place value of each digit in a 3-digit number (100s, 10s, 1s).
- Identify, represent and estimate numbers using different representations.
- Read and write numbers up to 1,000 in numerals and in words.
- Solve number problems and practical problems involving these ideas.
