By the end of this unit, children will understand that volume refers to the amount of space occupied by a three-dimensional object, while capacity refers to the amount of liquid a container can hold.

Description

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. identify and recognize common coins in the UK currency, including 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, and 50p
  2. count a collection of single coins accurately, understanding the value of each coin and the total amount.
  3. make specific amounts using a combination of 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, and 50p coins.
  4. compare the values of different coins and determine which is worth more or less.
  5. count mixed sets of coins, including combinations of 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, and 50p.

Year 2 Measurements:

  • Compare and order lengths, mass, volume/capacity and record the results using >, < and =.
