By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- understand the purpose of box and whisker plots in summarizing data distributions;
- create and interpret box and whisker plots for different data sets;
- analyze and compare data sets using box and whisker plots.
Curriculum Alignment: Key Stage 4: Statistics
- Interpret, analyse and compare the distributions of data sets from univariate empirical distributions through:
- appropriate graphical representation involving discrete, continuous and grouped data, {including box plots}.
- appropriate measures of central tendency (including modal class) and spread {including quartiles and inter-quartile range}.
