Comparing Numbers to 20

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Build on their understanding of comparing numbers from the Autumn term to compare pairs of numbers up to and including 20
2. Use their knowledge of representing numbers using objects to help them identify which number in a pair is greater or less than the other.

Curriculum Alignment: Year 1 Number: Number and Place Value

• Given a number, identify 1 more and 1 less.
• Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least.
