By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
understand and identify the basic elements of an electrical circuit;
know when a circuit is a complete or incomplete electrical circuit;
understand that the flow of electricity moves from the positive terminal to the negative terminal of the cell or battery;
build and test a range of simple circuits using common components.
National Curriculum Objectives
Year 6 Science: Electricity
associate the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer with the number and voltage of cells used in the circuit
compare and give reasons for variations in how components function, including the brightness of bulbs, the loudness of buzzers and the on/off position of switches
use recognised symbols when representing a simple circuit in a diagram.
