Description

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Understand the concept of weight and its measurement.
  2. Measure the weight of objects using non-standard units (e.g. blocks, balance scales).
  3. Compare and order objects based on their measured weights.
  4. Solve addition and subtraction problems involving weights.
  5. Apply the concept of weight to solve real-life problems.

Year 2 Measurement:

  • Choose and use appropriate standard units to estimate and measure length/height in any direction (m/cm); mass (kg/g); temperature (°C); capacity (litres/ml) to the nearest appropriate unit, using rulers, scales, thermometers and measuring vessels.
