By the end of this unit, children will be able to:
- Understand the concept of weight and its measurement.
- Measure the weight of objects using non-standard units (e.g. blocks, balance scales).
- Compare and order objects based on their measured weights.
- Solve addition and subtraction problems involving weights.
- Apply the concept of weight to solve real-life problems.
Curriculum Alignment: Year 2 Measurement:
- Choose and use appropriate standard units to estimate and measure length/height in any direction (m/cm); mass (kg/g); temperature (°C); capacity (litres/ml) to the nearest appropriate unit, using rulers, scales, thermometers and measuring vessels.
