By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

1. understand the concept of powers of 10 and their relationship to place value;
2. count forward and backward in powers of 10;
3. recognize the pattern of multiplying by 10 to move between place value positions;
4. apply the concept of counting in powers of 10 to solve real-life and mathematical problems.
