By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Represent real-life objects such as apples, leaves and sweets using manipulatives such as counters and cubes.
  2. Match numerals to a set of objects.
  3. Practise writing numerals to match a set of objects.

 

Curriculum Alignment: Year 1 Mathematics: Number and Place Value

  • Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, beginning with zero or 1, or from any given number
  • Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least
