Students will be able to sort objects into groups based on common attributes, such as color, shape, and size. Students will be able to identify and describe similarities and differences between objects, such as "these two blocks are the same color" or "this ball is smaller than that ball." Students will be able to classify objects into categories, such as animals, plants, and vehicles. Students will be able to create their own categories and explain the reasoning behind their choices. Students will be able to use sorting and grouping skills to solve simple problems and puzzles. Students will be able to use mathematical language to describe and communicate their sorting and grouping strategies, such as "I put all the red blocks together because they look the same."
