Recognise And Name 3D Shapes​ — Interactive Lesson (Year 1)

This Recognise and Name 3D Shapes lesson introduces Year 1 pupils to common three-dimensional shapes by connecting them to objects they already know. Across 31 slides, pupils meet shapes such as the sphere (like a football) and the cylinder, learning to identify each one by its real-world features — for example, that a sphere has one curved surface.

By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to name three-dimensional shapes and identify them in everyday objects around them, building the vocabulary and visual recognition skills that later support more formal work on the properties of 3D shapes.

The lesson uses clickable, exploratory slides so pupils can investigate each shape at their own pace before moving on to matching and identification activities, all with instant, self-marking feedback.
