Description
  1. Identify and label the basic parts of a plant, including roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits.
  2. Understand the functions of each plant part. For example:

    • Roots: Absorb water and nutrients from the soil, anchor the plant in place.
    • Stems: Support the plant and transport water, nutrients, and sugars.
    • Leaves: Perform photosynthesis, where plants make their food using sunlight.
    • Flowers: Reproductive structures that produce seeds.
    • Fruits: Protect and disperse seeds.

By the end of this unit, learners will:

  1. learn all about fish
  2. identify the important characteristics of fish like being vertebrates, being cold-blooding, having gills, etc;
  3. identify the different classes of fish (Jaw less, Bony, Cartilaginous);
  4. learn about all different types of fish, different parts of the fish, what they eat, how they breath, as well as where they live.

Year 1 Science: Animals, including humans

  • Identify and name a variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals
