The Sense of Sight

By the end of this unit, children will:

  1. understand that sight is one of the five senses and describe its basic function;
  2. understand how the eye detects objects and how this information is sent to the brain;
  3. recognize the importance of sight in everyday activities, such as seeing and identifying objects or environments;
  4. identify similarities and differences between eyes and the eyes of others

Curriculum Alignment: Year 1 Science: Animals, including humans

  • identify, name, draw and label the basic parts of the human body and say which part of the body is associated with each sense
