By the end of this unit, children will be able to:
- Recognize and name common 2D shapes (e.g. circle, square, triangle, rectangle).
- Describe the attributes of 2D shapes (e.g. number of sides, angles).
- Identify and classify shapes based on their attributes (e.g. sorting by number of sides).
- Create and draw 2D shapes using given criteria.
- Combine and decompose 2D shapes to form new shapes (e.g. combining triangles to make a quadrilateral).
- Solve real-life problems using 2D shapes and their properties.
Curriculum Alignment: Year 2 Geometry: Properties of shapes
- Identify and describe the properties of 2-D shapes, including the number of sides, and line symmetry in a vertical line.
