Linear Equations

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Understand the concept of linear equations and their importance in representing relationships between variables.
2. Solve linear equations for a given variable using appropriate methods.
3. Apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems involving linear equations.

• Understand and use the concepts and vocabulary of expressions, equations, inequalities, terms and factors
• Use algebraic methods to solve linear equations in 1 variable (including all forms that require rearrangement)
• Reduce a given linear equation in 2 variables to the standard form y = mx + c; calculate and interpret gradients and intercepts of graphs of such linear equations numerically, graphically and algebraically
