Clockwise and Anti-clockwise

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Understand the concepts of clockwise and anti-clockwise directions.
  2. Identify and differentiate between clockwise and anti-clockwise movements.
  3. Describe and demonstrate clockwise and anti-clockwise rotations.
  4. Apply the concepts of clockwise and anti-clockwise to real-life situations (e.g., turning objects, directions).

Curriculum Alignment: Year 2 Geometry: Position and direction

  • Use mathematical vocabulary to describe position, direction and movement, including movement in a straight line and distinguishing between rotation as a turn and in terms of right angles for quarter, half and three-quarter turns (clockwise and anti-clockwise).
