By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- understand and identify the basic elements of an electrical circuit;
- know when a circuit is a complete or incomplete electrical circuit;
- understand that the flow of electricity moves from the positive terminal to the negative terminal of the cell or battery;
- build and test a range of simple circuits using common components.
Ā
Curriculum Alignment: Year 6 Science: Electricity
- associate the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer with the number and voltage of cells used in the circuit
- compare and give reasons for variations in how components function, including the brightness of bulbs, the loudness of buzzers and the on/off position of switches
- use recognised symbols when representing a simple circuit in a diagram.
