Faces, Edges and Vertices

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the concepts of faces, edges, and vertices as attributes of three-dimensional shapes.
  2. Identify and count the faces, edges, and vertices of common three-dimensional shapes.
  3. Differentiate between these attributes and describe them for various shapes.
  4. Apply the knowledge of faces, edges, and vertices to identify and describe real-life objects.

Curriculum Alignment: Year 3 Geometry: Properties of shapes

  • Draw 2-D shapes and make 3-D shapes using modelling materials; recognise 3-D shapes in different orientations and describe them.
