Factorising Quadratic Expressions of the form ax² + bx + c

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. understand the concept of factorization and its importance in algebra;
  2. apply different methods to factorize quadratic expressions, including common factors, grouping, and special patterns;
  3. solve quadratic equations by setting factors equal to zero.

Curriculum Alignment: Key Stage 4: Algebra

  • solve quadratic equations {including those that require rearrangement} algebraically by factorising, {by completing the square and by using the quadratic formula}; find approximate solutions using a graph
