Finding Area by Counting Squares

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Understand the concept of area as the amount of space enclosed within a two-dimensional shape.
  2. Count and calculate the area of shapes by counting squares within them.
  3. Recognize the relationship between the size of a shape and the number of squares it covers.
  4. Apply the concept of finding area by counting squares to solve real-life and mathematical problems.
