Identifying and Describing 3D Shapes

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Recognize and identify common 3D shapes, such as cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones, and pyramids.
  2. Describe the properties of different 3D shapes, including the number of faces, edges, and vertices.
  3. Compare and classify 3D shapes based on their attributes.
  4. Apply knowledge of 3D shapes to real-world contexts and problem-solving.

Curriculum Alignment: Year 3 Geometry: Properties of shapes

  • Draw 2-D shapes and make 3-D shapes using modelling materials; recognise 3-D shapes in different orientations and describe them.
