By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. recognize and describe the solid shapes they see in their environment, such as the shapes of toys, household items, and natural objects.
  2. use solid shapes to create representations of objects and ideas, such as using a cylinder to represent a tree trunk or a cone to represent a party hat.
  3. demonstrate an understanding of 3D shapes (sphere, cube, cone, cylinder) by recognizing them in everyday objects and distinguishing their characteristics.
