Transforming Graphs​

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

1. understand the different types of graph transformations, including translations, reflections, stretches, and compressions;
2. apply transformation rules to graph various functions and shapes;
3. interpret how transformations affect the behaviour and appearance of functions and shapes.

Curriculum Alignment: Key Stage 4: Algebra

• recognise, sketch and interpret graphs of linear functions, quadratic functions, simple cubic functions, the reciprocal function y =  with x ≠ 0, {the exponential function y = k^x for positive values of k, and the trigonometric functions (with arguments in degrees) y = sin x, y = cos x and y = tan x for angles of any size}
• {sketch translations and reflections of the graph of a given function}
