Solving Comparison, Sum and Difference Problems

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Build on previous learning to solve comparison, sum and difference problems using discrete data.
  2. Recap key vocabulary, such as “difference”, before looking at questions that use this terminology.
  3. Use addition and subtraction to answer questions.

  • Interpret and present discrete and continuous data using appropriate graphical methods, including bar charts and line graphs.
  • Solve comparison, sum and difference problems using information presented in bar charts, pictograms, tables and other graphs.
