Transforming Shapes by Translations

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Use their knowledge of coordinates to translate shapes in all four quadrants.
  2. Describe translations using directional language.
  3. Use instructions to draw translated shapes.

  • describe positions on the full coordinate grid (all 4 quadrants)
  • draw and translate simple shapes on the coordinate plane, and reflect them in the axes
