Area of Triangles

By the end of this unit, students will:

  1. Understand the concept of the area of a triangle and its importance in geometry.
  2. Use appropriate formulas to calculate the area of different types of triangles.
  3. Apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems involving triangles.

Curriculum Alignment: Key Stage 3: Geometry and Measures

  • Derive and apply formulae to calculate and solve problems involving: the perimeter and area of triangles, parallelograms, trapezia, the volume of cuboids (including cubes), and other prisms (including cylinders)
  • Calculate and solve problems involving: perimeters of 2-D shapes (including circles), areas of circles, and composite shapes
