Interpret Pictograms (1-1)

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Understand the concept of pictograms as visual representations of data.
  2. Interpret pictograms using one-to-one correspondence between symbols and quantities.
  3. Read and gather information from pictograms with simple symbols.
  4. Compare and analyze data shown in pictograms.
  5. Answer questions and solve problems based on pictogram data.

Curriculum Alignment: Year 2 Statistics:

  • Interpret and construct simple pictograms, tally charts, block diagrams and tables.
  • Ask and answer simple questions by counting the number of objects in each category and sorting the categories by quantity.
  • Ask-and-answer questions about totalling and comparing categorical data.
