Description

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. extend their understanding of the units of time to include minutes and seconds;
  2. recognise that there are 60 seconds in 1 minute and use this to write durations of time in different ways;
  3. and use various strategies to work out the number of seconds there are in several minutes.

Year 3 Measurements:

  • Tell and write the time from an analogue clock, including using Roman numerals from I to XII, and 12-hour and 24-hour clocks.
  • Estimate and read time with increasing accuracy to the nearest minute; record and compare time in terms of seconds, minutes and hours; use vocabulary such as o’clock, am/pm, morning, afternoon, noon and midnight.
