In this lesson, learners will be able to interpret negative numbers in context and count forwards and backward with positive and negative whole numbers, including through 0. They will also be able to solve problems involving negative numbers.

Description

By the end of this unit, children will be able to:

  1. Understand the concept of rounding and its purpose in estimation.
  2. Round numbers to the nearest 10, 100, and 1000.
  3. Apply rounding skills to real-life problem-solving situations.
  4. Recognize how rounding affects calculations and makes them easier.

Year 6 Number: Number and place value

  • Round any whole number to a required degree of accuracy.
  • Solve number and practical problems that involve the above.
  • Age: 9-11
