By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- identify and explain which substances are soluble and which are insoluble in water;
- understand the concept of solubility and how it applies to different materials;
- learn and describe different methods for separating mixtures, including sieving, filtering, and evaporating;
- and choose the appropriate method for separating specific mixtures.
Curriculum Alignment: Year 5 Science: Properties and changes of materials
- use knowledge of solids, liquids and gases to decide how mixtures might be separated, including through filtering, sieving and evaporating
